BLESMA - British Limbless Ex Servicemans Association

Registered Charity Number 1084189.

In the deserts and mountains of Iraq and Afghanistan, our soldiers - some as young as 18 years of age - are suffering terrible, life changing injuries.  For every death, many more are injured; they face an uncertain future of major changes and disability, where previously there was a clear career path and peak physical fitness.

BLESMA helps our wounded soldiers who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.

We believe in rehabilitation through sporting activities – there is life, new friendships and even sporting glory after amputation!  Limbless soldiers of all ages, even those recently wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, are not only taught to walk again but to sail the Atlantic, to ski down mountains and to compete in the Paralympics for the country they fought for.

BLESMA campaigns for our soldiers rights and looks after individuals, their dependants and widows by offering a comprehensive grants and welfare system.  Your support means we can do the little things that make a difference to one person’s life and the big things that make a difference to the lives of many.  Our members, from 19 through to 99, are safe in the knowledge that we are with them and their families for life.

Rehabilitation, support, counselling and care are the four principle foundations of our organisation.  Together, we can help our men, women and their families face the challenges ahead with renewed confidence and self-belief.
