Our Byway Challenge is now in its fifth year and seems to get better year on year, especially with the glorious weather we had in 2018.
The byway s is a fundraising challenge for Bike Tours for the Wounded C.I.C with all of the proceeds from the registration fee (less the camping costs) going directly to the cause. We also encourage each participant to engage in fundraising through our Everydayhero fundraising platform to maximise the amount raised.
Last year due to popular demand we ran a second Byway Challenges which was also fully booked. At present we are currently running one challenge, don’t miss your oppertunity to take part in this amazing challenge,
LIMITED TO 24 PLACES
Challenge date – Saturday 22 June to Saturday 29 June
Details of the Byway Challenge
The challenge starts in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales before heading North through Teesside and into Northumberland. We start heading west through Lancashire spending two days in the Lake District National Park completing the loop back to our start point.
Each day’s route has been carefully selected by our team with the support of the Trail Riders Fellowship (TRF) members. They have selected the best routes that are available in their local areas. We ride in small groups based on rider experience and the difficulty of the route. The lanes cater for all abilities and all bikes whether you are the occasional green lane rider or the more advanced rider you will find your level and have the most amazing time. The scenery is stunning along the c900 miles of this challenge linking the green lanes with B roads with plenty of stops for refreshments and rest!
Accommodation is camping along the route which is facilitated by the Bike Tours for the Wounded support team, the tents are large family style with plenty of room to make your trip comfortable. The team will also carry in the support vehicle your bags and are there to set up camp in each location and de-camp the following morning all you have to do is ride and enjoy. The campsites have been carefully selected along the route to accommodate our tour needs whilst allowing us to also enjoy the local dining facilities and pubs.
Continental breakfast is included, lunch, evening meal, fuel and other expenses are down to each individual.
Total Costs: £495 which includes a £195 non refundable registration fee to secure a place.
The balance of £300 can be raised through individual fund-raising efforts. We will support you in this with ideas and setting up an online fund-raising page to help you achieve your goal. Please note any short fall in fund raising will need to be covered by the rider.
